It was a rough weekend for Xbox Live worldwide, and it was a problem that still hasn't been fully resolved. As a result, there were 36 hours of trouble for some players as they tried to enjoy themselves, and not only was the problem with Xbox Live but there were also some reports of players having trouble playing single-player games offline.
The issues all started on Friday, and Xbox didn't hide from the problems as they took to Twitter to acknowledge the issues. It was a mess from the start, and while it started with players being unable to play, buy, or stream games, it evolved into other issues.
While most users were happy with Microsoft's quick action, some weren't in the order things were taken care of. The company didn't hesitate to make sure people could buy games, but the problems launching and playing them continued. Combine that with the fact that they were giving out some run-around answers like "All users should once again be able to launch games" and "We're aware that some users are unable to … launch games."
On Monday, some players were still facing issues, and apparently, all users in Europe were facing some form of problem. The latest update on Monday from Xbox was, "We've seen significant improvement to the issue that has prevented some users from purchasing and launching games. We expect full mitigation in the coming days with the roll out of a new update."
The company has yet to explain what caused the issues for four days.
