The very popular Witcher 3 was being fixed up and touched up for a re-release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S; unfortunately, things haven't gone as planned. CD Projekt Red announced that the project has officially been delayed.

"We have decided to have our in-house development team conduct the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice. We'll update you as soon as we can. Thank you for your understanding."

The official Witcher Twitter account tweeted those details on Wednesday.

Exactly what aspect of the re-release has caused the delay is unknown at the time. However, we know that it's set to include faster loading times, ray tracing, and all previously released content. It's also been rumoured to have a fan-produced mod that improves the game's texture.

It's not the first time the re-release has been delayed, as it was expected to come out in late 2021. The re-release is also supposed to include some unique features and content from the TV show, which consists of the possibility of wearing Geralt's armour from the Netflix show.
