After making waves with some State of Play news over the last couple of weeks, PlayStation is making headlines again. Information is starting to leak regarding the platform's version of the Xbox Game Pass.
Bloomberg reports that it'll be a mashup of PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now that, for now, is codenamed Spartacus. Bloomberg's report adds that an announcement could come next week, and its debut is expected to feature a solid lineup of hit games.
According to prior reports, Spartacus is expected to have a monthly fee that will unlock access to both classic and new games. It's expected to debut in the spring and will integrate PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now into a single service. The service will also have different tiers, with the most expensive offering extended demos and streaming capabilities. Spartacus is designed to make Sony's PlayStation Plus service more competitive with Xbox Game Pass, which has over 25 million customers as of January 2022.
PlayStation Plus has 48 million customers as of December 2021, while PlayStation Now has over 3.2 million subscribers as of May 2021.
