Many believe God of War Ragnarok is headed towards a 2023 release as we head towards summer. However, Sony Santa Monica Studio took to social media to assure fans the game is still coming this year. Unfortunately, there hasn't been much information regarding the game, which has led many to believe the game is experiencing delays.
Cory Barlog recorded a video asking fans to remain patient regarding the game with all the speculation floating around. Their only reason for delays is because everybody is working hard to put the final touches.
"Speaking of God of War Ragnarök, the elephant in the room… We haven't said a lot about this – that's because everybody is heads down, hard at work," he said. "We are perfectionists. Everyone's tightening up the graphics on level three, there is so much going on right now that I just wish that we could share it with you, but it's just not ready to be shown.
"But I guarantee you, the moment, the very second that we have something that we're ready to share, we're going to share it, because we don't want to hold any of this back.
"So, please hold tight, know that something cool is coming, and that we, everybody here at Santa Monica, is so incredibly thankful for all the support you've given us."
While Barlog isn't directing the project, the game's animation director, Bruno Velazquez, responded to a fan by saying the game is coming this year.
Sony originally announced God of War Ragnarok as a PS5 exclusive during the 2020 PS5 Showcase; however, it's now believed to be available on both PS4 and PS5.
