If you were excited to have EA Sports' popular PGA Tour game back this year for the first time since 2015, you'll have to wait some more.
EA confirmed that the game is delayed until 2023. The news comes after they announced in November 2021 that they wouldn't be able to follow through with their planned Spring 2022 release window. While EA didn't give any specific reason for the delay, they used their statement to explain all the features coming in the new game.
“There are few things in sports that match the thrill of winning a major championship, and we’re excited to bring all four majors – the Masters Tournament, PGA Championship, US Open Championship, and The Open Championship – and a true next gen championship golf experience to fans next year,” EA Sports general manager Cam Weber said. “Through our PGA Tour and LPGA partnerships, all-new PGA Tour athlete tracking integration, and events like The Players Championship and FedExCup Playoffs, players will be able to get an all-access pass to pro championship golf like never before.”
2K Sports has taken over the golf world, making noise with PGA Tour 2K21 and signed a recent long-term agreement with Tiger Woods. Hopefully, the delay means they're looking to hold their upcoming game to the same standards as their popular PGA games released between 1990 and 2015.
