It has been over two decades since the release of the original Half-Life mod "Counter-Strike" and yet, the 1.6 version of the game still has many active servers that attract regular players all over the world. Since 1999, the extremely popular first-person-shooter has been a staple for many PC gamers over the years, and today, Valve's fourth installment of the series, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive continues to be a popular shooter in a FPS arena dominated by the likes of Battlefield, Call of Duty, and battle royale styled sandbox games like Fortnite. Professional tournaments are a mainstay for the Counter-Strike series and still continues to attract many fans from children to veteran gamers who've played the first game in the 90's.
The latest update to the first game of the series is version 1.6 which released in 2000. After over two decades, the game still attracts regular players both veteran and noobie. Perhaps it is simply because there's nothing quite like the nostalgia of the unique sounds and maps and unforgiving gameplay the game provides. Millions of hours spent in Dust, Office, Aztec, Inferno, and countless community maps have given many gamers a library of memories with their friends over the years. This includes the rage-quitting, the trolling, and of course, heaps of laughter. Seasons change and times come and go, but as of now, Counter-Strike 1.6 is still available for those who want to relive the glory days of simple and merciless shoot-em up gaming.
